Five years ago, “co-investor” implied proximity without power: an investor who was invited to someone else’s round and was grateful for a seat, but rarely shaped any outcomes.
After decades across venture, investment banking, and company building, I’ve seen that model from every side of the table. Early in my career, leading Morgan Stanley’s internet practice, access was everything, and leads were the key to success. Later, when I built and exited my own company, I saw the hierarchy from the founder’s chair. It became clear how much value gets left on the table when investors stop showing up after the wire clears.
Venture capital has long celebrated the “lead” as the only measure of influence. But I’ve come to believe venture doesn’t need more leads; it needs more partners. That belief is what built MVP Ventures (MVP).
We’ve proven that the people who create the most value aren’t always the ones holding the headline.
From Access to Impact
Venture has always revolved around access. Who saw the deal first? Who earned the right to lead it? As the market has matured, founders are seeking more than just capital and credibility. They need partners who will help build their businesses before and after the check clears.
Co-investors were once just treated as passengers on a journey led by lead investors. Helpful, but rarely essential. Today, the best co-investors amplify the impact of every investor on the cap table. They support founders, collaborate with lead investors, and accelerate progress where it matters most.
That’s the gap MVP fills. We engage with breakout companies early, often before a round, and prove our value upfront. We then invest alongside top-tier firms as an operationally engaged partner. It’s not about being first on the term sheet. It’s about being indispensable once you’re on the cap table.
Turning Partnership Into a System
The foundation of MVP is simple: consistently help companies scale faster, hire smarter, raise stronger, and earn our presence on the cap table over and over again. Nearly half of our team focuses exclusively on value creation, and we have a roster of operators who have all built and scaled businesses at the highest level.
We don’t try to do everything, but instead focus on delivering tangible results in the most impactful categories: Go-to-Market, Talent, Capital Markets, and Government Relations. We’ve built a structure that makes partnership systematic. When founders need a key hire, a customer introduction, or a trusted expert, we move quickly and with precision. We see co-investing not as a secondary position but as a strategic one that strengthens the entire investment ecosystem.
For MVP, co-investing isn’t a secondary position, and our approach has produced the results to prove it. Fifty-three of our 65 Fund I founders call us their most valuable partner per dollar. Our portfolio includes eleven unicorns out of ninety-nine investments, and our performance consistently exceeds the top quartile. MVP’s consistency has become our differentiator and our category.
From Category to Craft
Each era of venture has been defined by a new understanding of where value is created. Early-stage investing introduced conviction, and growth capital brought scale. The next era will be determined by the ability to execute on promises and partnerships systematically.
MVP is a firm grounded in data, driven by people, and defined by the outcomes we help create. We don’t just want to participate in the best companies. We aim to make every company we back better for having us on their cap table.
From our founder testimonials to our recent Fund II announcement, MVP is proof that disciplined co-investing, built on early insight and measurable value, represents a new category of venture leadership.
This next chapter is about earning trust repeatedly, strengthening founders, and continually raising the bar on what partnership looks like. We’ve proven that a co-investor can lead through value. Now we’re focused on perfecting it one founder at a time.
We didn’t rename co-investing. We redefined it.
Let’s talk about what you’re building and how we can help move it forward:
