Andre’s first lessons in company building happened poolside. As a child, he listened to the early days of founding The Gap as his uncle, Don Fisher (Founder) and his father (legal counsel) talk through the early challenges of growing the new denim retailer, from opening new stores to moving inventory between cities. Years later, during summer tennis matches with NEA co-founder Dick Kramlich, he discovered there was an entire profession built around listening to entrepreneurs and helping their ideas become real. Venture capital became the goal, even if the path into it was not yet clear.
Getting there took Andre through securities law, a Stanford MBA, investment banking, and entrepreneurship. He helped lead Morgan Stanley’s internet practice alongside Mary Meeker, built a technology-native logistics company of his own, and has now spent more than fifteen years investing in founders. Each chapter gave him a different view of what it takes to build something that lasts. Those perspectives ultimately shaped MVP Ventures, which Andre co-founded to bring institutional capital and the reach of individual investors together under one venture strategy. Today, he works across the firm while keeping much of his attention on what comes next, anticipating the people, infrastructure, and ideas MVP will need before the need becomes obvious.
Andre believes venture is built on stories and sustained by relationships. He is drawn to founders who can describe a future others cannot yet see, then persevering when bringing it to life becomes difficult. He brings the same conviction to his own team. MVP was designed so talented people could own their work, share in what they create, and measure success by what the firm accomplishes together. For Andre, building a lasting firm matters. Building one that gives other people the opportunity to do the best work of their lives matters even more.
