I have roots in Memphis, TN, where I grew up, and where my mother and grandparents are from. Aside from being the home of the blues, the birthplace of rock and roll, and the locale of the best BBQ in the world, Memphis is also set at the center of both the Bible Belt and the Civil Rights Movement. As a Jewish kid growing up in this complex web of cultures, beliefs, and struggles, I gained a broad perspective and an appreciation for people from all walks of life.
I love being part of a team. I spent a large chunk of my childhood playing soccer, and I continued to play at the collegiate level. Soccer taught me how to motivate teammates, manage personalities in a competitive atmosphere, and celebrate the accomplishments of everyone — not just one player. I've found these skills translate to my career, both as an individual contributor and as a manager.
I've always been fascinated with solving problems and finding elegant solutions since I was in high school and became enthralled with Math. Learning how complex ideas boil down to simple formulas made me want to learn more and dig deeper. I continued that learning through college at Tufts University, where I chose math as my major, though it was hardly a tough decision. Now, I approach software engineering the same way; I get satisfaction anytime I can make a codebase simpler, more performant, or more approachable.
I find myself at home working with startups — beginning with my time at Demyst. What was initially an opportunity to gain valuable software engineering experience became a much bigger journey. I leaned into helping clients and went on to manage the customer success team. Through it all, I learned how startups find product-market fit, worked with enterprise clients, and accomplished lofty goals with lean teams.
I chose to work at MVP because of its unique character. It's a firm that punches above its weight in terms of value and impact for its portfolio companies, which aligns with my background in customer success. I'm thrilled to be part of the technology team, looking to optimize, automate, and streamline the way we operate.
