Rebuilding the database for what comes next.
Why we invested
Neon was rethinking PostgreSQL for a cloud-native, serverless world at a moment when the infrastructure beneath modern applications was beginning to change. Led by a repeat database founder with deep infrastructure experience, Neon paired a proven open-source foundation with an architecture designed for the next generation of application development. We saw the potential for that approach to become increasingly important as AI created entirely new demands on data infrastructure.
Partnership
An acquisition can mark the end of an investment without marking the end of a relationship. After years of working closely with Neon, MVP stayed engaged when the company was acquired by Databricks, continuing to support the people behind the company and helping team members navigate what came next.
What we do for them
- → Support hiring across engineering, product, developer relations, and leadership roles
- → Connect Neon with operators and advisors around go-to-market and open-source commercialization
- → Create strategic connections across the MVP portfolio
- → Support Neon team members through the transition following its acquisition
What Neon says about us.
"MVP delivered on their commitment to be our most-value-per-dollar investor. They provided concrete value by directly supporting Neon's GTM, talent and fundraising initiatives. On the GTM front, Grayson connected us with a number of potential customers, partners and advisors. On the talent side, Cecilia helped us think through ideal candidate profiles and resources for sourcing candidates. Founders that want to get a lot of utility out of their non-lead investors should consider partnering with MVP."
