Kevin brings more than three decades of venture investing experience to MVP, with a career spanning some of the most significant shifts in technology and global innovation. He began investing in 1988 and later co-founded GSR Ventures, where he spent years backing early-stage technology companies and helping build the firm into a global venture platform. His relationship with MVP began from the other side of the table, after the firm invested in oneNav, a company Kevin had seeded. Getting to know MVP through that process ultimately led him back to the kind of early-stage, deep-technology investing where his career began.
Having invested through multiple technology and market cycles, Kevin has developed a strong instinct for recognizing when the conditions around an emerging technology are beginning to align. His approach combines a deep understanding of technology with pattern recognition around founders, markets, capital, and timing. He looks for defensible technologies and founders with both a clear vision for what they can create and a grounded understanding of the resources required to get there. After watching venture shift toward consumer, media, and software over successive cycles, Kevin sees the current return to technically complex, early-stage companies as a return to some of venture capital’s original strengths.
A Silicon Valley native and second-generation technology entrepreneur, Kevin has spent much of his life around technology and company building, and his enthusiasm for what might be around the next corner hasn’t gone anywhere. He now calls Las Vegas home, drawn there by the restaurants, entertainment, sports, and, by his own admission, keeping his wife happy.
